Officials have announced that between Grayson and Breckinridge counties, $108,874.53 was raised this year for WHAS Crusade for Children.
According to Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall, all of the money raised comes back to the community to help special needs children.
Fundraising took place at intersections throughout the county, and firefighters volunteered their time to help collect money all of last weekend.
Totals for Grayson County are as follows:
East Grayson County - $3,396.25
Clarkson - $8,303.57
Leitchfield - $15,983.19
Wax - $4,001.21
Anneta - $2,619.93
Caneyville - $2,226.50
According to Duvall, some people even brought in checks after fundraising was completed.
After all of the donations were collected and counted, the Leitchfield Fire Department hosted the regional remote location for WHAS Crusade for Children for the fifth year at Leitchfield Fire Station 1 on Sunday and the kids who attended received a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog.
"It was a great day. The kids really enjoyed Sparky," he said.
