Letcher Fire and Rescue accepting donations for fire victims

Four families were burned out of their apartments overnight Monday in Letcher County. Letcher Fire and Rescue is accepting donations for the fire victims. The apartment complex along KY 15 near Isom caught fire around 3:00 a.m., according to firefighters. It took 25 firefighters from four different departments to fight the fire. Investigators say no people were hurt, but one dog died in the fire. The cause is under investigation. Firefighters say three of the families were put up in a hotel and the other stayed with family. The local chapter of the American Red Cross is helping the victims. The four fire departments that battled the fire included the Letcher County Fire Department, Sandlick Fire Department, Mayking Fire Department and Whitesburg Fire Department.
