Daviess Fiscal Court is suspending non-fire related activities at Daviess County's 10 volunteer fire stations, according to Daviess County Judge-Executive Al Mattingly.
"There were things being done that were not covered by our insurance," Mattingly said. "KACo (Kentucky Association of Counties) is our new provider and they are looking at the uses of fire stations. They are the underwriter, meaning they are responsible. As we reviewed the different uses it became apparent that the stations were being used for personal use and events that were not related to fire."
To aid KACo in their assessment of how the volunteer stations have been used in the past, Fiscal Court asked each station's chief to compile a list of activities that take place throughout the year.
