A fire broke out during the morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 5 at a residence on Lewis Drive in Paintsville. Paintsville Fire Department Chief Rick Ratliff stated that, “There were four occupants in the house” and that the home is “beyond repair.”
While the occupants made it out safely, they have been displaced from their former home during the start of a chilly holiday season.
“It’s bad anytime,” said Ratliff. “But this is a family. The Red Cross is working on getting them a place to stay. They’re good about that.”
While the firefighters had not determined a cause of the fire as of presstime Tuesday, Ratliff noted that the fire spread quickly in the older home.
