City firefighters battled a blaze Wednesday evening that claimed a home off the 300 block of North Scott Street. There were no reported injuries. Madisonville Fire Department reported Station 1 crews responded to the 5:19 p.m. alarm to find smoke showing from the attic vents of the wood frame house. Once crews got inside to extinguish the flames, smoke conditions grew heavier, MFD reported. They discovered the fire had spread to a void space due to an addition that had been built onto the house. Firefighters used a chainsaw to access the fire inside the void space.
