Local first responders got their hands dirty rescuing a baby animal from a well on Wednesday. A 7-month-old female calf fell into a well overnight and was found by its owner this morning in the 1900 block of Matlock Road in the Plano community. After an hour the calf was finally pulled from the water by the Plano Volunteer Fire Department and Warren County Emergency Management. According to the property owner, the well is 40 to 50 feet deep and the cow could have been in there for up to 12 hours. The cow did suffer some scratches but her owner hopes for a full recovery. The calf’s owner, Paul Brown, said he was extremely worried. The calf didn’t have a name until today. She is now being called Lucky.
