Fire crews responded Monday morning to a house fire in the 1300 block of Christine Avenue in Boyd County. “We heard screaming, so my husband and I walked outside and we saw the 11-year-old that lives in the trailer screaming,” said JoEllen Miller, who lives nearby. A grandmother and her four grandchildren lived in the mobile home and were home at the time of the fire, but they all got out safely. Tim England, Deputy Chief of the Westwood Fire Department, says the fire started in the back bedroom of the home. It was reported around 9:15 a.m. Monday. “The entire end of that bedroom is gone. There’s fire damage throughout the hallway, and there’s smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the structure,” England said. He believes a space heater was the cause of the fire.
