Someone is currently being treated for serious injuries after a fire started in the kitchen of an apartment in Shively. Crews from the Shively Fire Department and the Louisville Fire Department were called on Monday at about 11:20 a.m. to the 4100 Block of Candor Avenue. The firefighters didn’t see any smoke or fire from outside, but they did find smoke and a working fire in the kitchen area after forcing the door open. “They made entry, removed one victim, that victim was transported to UofL Hospital with extensive injuries due to the fire,” LFD Captain Donovan Sims said. There was no one else inside the home and no other injuries were reported. It took about 10 minutes to put the flames out. LFD Arson is now investigating the cause of the fire.
