VIDEO: Another Safe Haven Baby Box location in Louisville is now available to the community. On Tuesday, a baby box at Louisville Fire Engine 10 was blessed and now firefighters are ready to act should the alarm sound. The baby box can be found on West Ashland Drive in the Beechmont neighborhood. It provides a resource to parents in the neighborhood giving them a safe option to surrender their baby for any reason. The boxes are temperature-controlled and sound an alarm to alert firefighters when an infant is placed inside. The baby is then checked by medics, taken to the hospital and placed with a family for adoption. During the dedication ceremony, a Louisville family was present that adopted a young boy named Samuel. He had been surrounded at a Louisville fire station nearly two years ago in May.
