Jefferson Parish officials said that an injured firefighter’s condition is improving after he fell through a roof while helping extinguish a fire in Metairie last week. Dan Ziegler is breathing on his own now, and communicating with family members through written notes. He was even able to take a short walk to briefly meet family and friends on Thursday. Officials are asking the public to help in Ziegler’s recovery through two blood drives and a GoFundMe page.
