A man has been arrested after investigators say he intentionally set fire to his own business on New Year’s Day. According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, Saleem Dabit, 73, was arrested and charged with arson following a fire on New Year's Day at his business, Sam the Man's Fashion, located at 5154 Plank Road. The fire destroyed much of a warehouse behind the clothing store. Investigators estimate damages were between $800,000 and $1 million. An insurance claim was initiated by Dabit, according to BRFD. Investigators say they have reason to believe Dabit set fire to his business because of financial distress.
