The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to the scene of a fire around 11 p.m. on Sunday, November 21. Firefighters arrived at 2245 Pocahontas St. and found “light smoke coming from the two-story vacant home,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department. Firefighters went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder. BRFD says firefighters “made entry through a door near the rear of the home and found fire in the rear bedroom that had spread to the attic.” Due to the quick actions of firefighters, the fire did not spread outside of those areas. The fire was extinguished in around 30 minutes and the vacant home sustained $25,000 in damages. Fire investigators were called to the vacant home and concluded that arson was the cause of the fire.
