Seven people have been displaced following a fire at a home on Sherwood Street in Baton Rouge.
According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, the fire began just after 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, at the home on Sherwood Street near North Foster Drive.
When firefighters got to the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the home. All of the people inside of the home escaped to safety before firefighters arrived.
Most of the flames were in the back bedroom, and firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the home. However, the rest of the home suffered heavy smoke and water damage.
An investigator is still working to determine what caused the fire.
The Red Cross was called to assist the displaced residents.
