VIDEO: Kenner Police said a 12-year-old boy was in custody after allegedly starting a fire that engulfed an apartment building late Tuesday afternoon (March 26). The juvenile’s identity was not disclosed. Agency spokesman Capt. Michael Cunningham said just before 9 p.m. that detectives were still interviewing witnesses and the investigation was “ongoing.” Firefighters worked more than 90 minutes to extinguish the blaze at a four-plex apartment building in the 600 block of Vouray Drive, officials said. The fire left a plume of smoke drifting near Lake Pontchartrain, visible miles away to motorists on Interstate 10 shortly after 6 p.m. Chief Jason Dyer of the Kenner Fire Department said no injuries were reported in the single-alarm fire. There was no immediate information on the number of residents displaced by the fire.
