A firefighter died Tuesday after a battle with occupational cancer. According to a Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department Facebook post, firefighter Jesse McCullough had been battling occupational cancer since he was diagnosed Jan. 2017. “Brother McCullough fought valiantly against this disease and his fight was a testament to his strength as a person,” Prince George’s County Professional Fire Fighters & Paramedics Association President Andrew Pantelis said in the Facebook post. “[He] was a friend and inspiration to many and his passing comes with great grief.” Pantelis added that McCullough served as a firefighter for more than 10 years in both Prince George’s County and Baltimore. A line-of-duty funeral will be held for McCullough on Saturday, Oct. 13, beginning with visitation at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Upper Marlboro at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m., according to the department.
