Nearly a dozen emergency vehicles on Wednesday formed a procession to escort the body of former Washington County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association President Dale Hill on his final journey home. Oley Griffith, chief of First Hose Co. of Boonsboro, said a Community Rescue Service ambulance picked up Hill's body Wednesday morning at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. Emergency officials in Frederick County traveled with the ambulance to the rest stop along Interstate 70 west, near Myersville. From there, Washington County emergency officials took over, accompanying Hill's body the rest of the way to Minnich Funeral Home in Hagerstown. Hill, 65, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown. The official cause of death has not been released.
