The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a Sunday morning fire that killed one person and injured one other.
The names of the victim and the injured person are not being released yet, pending positive identification and notification of next-of-kin, according to Deputy State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire, MOSFM spokesman. He said the cause and origin of the fatal fire is still being investigated.
Alkire reported that there were three people in the home located at 2870 Old Elk Neck Road when the fire broke out. As one in a cluster of eight mobile homes, Alkire said a neighbor reported the blaze at 5:38 a.m. Sunday.
"We do believe one of the occupants became aware of the fire ... but there was no time to find the phone and call 911," Alkire added.
