Fire Heavily Damages Talbot County Home

A Talbot County home was heavily damaged by a fire spotted by a neighbor shortly after midnight Wednesday morning. According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the fire broke out in the attic of the home at 21472 Wharf Road in Tilghman. Crews from the Tilghman Volunteer Fire Company responded and had the fire under control in about 40 minutes. Fire officials say there was a smoke alarm present but it was not clear whether it activated. Damage to the home and its contents is estimated to be about $280,000. Investigators say no one was home at the time and they are encouraging anyone with information about the fire to contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-822-7609.
