An early morning house fire has displaced a Frederick family. Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services responded to the 100 block of Wheeler Lane at about 12:35 a.m. Wednesday and found a second-floor bedroom engulfed in flames. Officials say about 30 firefighters tackled the fire for half an hour before completely extinguishing the blaze. Seven family members were home when the fire broke out, but officials credit working alarms to their survival. "Notification to the family to exit the home was due to working smoke detectors that allowed them to exit the home. The initial crews, they were rapid and offensive. They kept the fire confined to just that one room," explained acting battalion chief, Seth Edwards. Officials estimate the fire about $75,000 in damages.
