22 recruits graduate from Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services training academy

The Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services welcomed 22 new members into the department Friday. Recruit Class 24 graduates from the training academy after a 28-week training which began in October. The recruit’s participated in 850 hours of coursework which included: emergency medical technician training, hazardous material operations, and firefighter safety and survival. "Right now, we are absolutely in need of more staffing,” said Lt. Daniel Water, who supervised and led the recruit class with Cpt. John Newman. “Our department is growing and we have a large group of individuals that are retiring. We could definitely use the help out in the field." Recruit Class 24's Class Valedictorian was Glen Lang.
