A four-vehicle crash sent multiple people to area hospitals Tuesday morning; one was flown to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Around 7:40 Tuesday morning, Maryland State Police along with paramedics and firefighters were called to Route 40 in the area of Cool Hollow Road. Investigation revealed that a GMC box truck was traveling westbound on Rt. 40 directly behind a Ford F-150, when the Ford pickup slowed to make a left turn onto Cool Hollow Road. Police say the 19-year-old male driver of the box truck was not paying full attention while driving and subsequently struck the rear of the Ford pickup. The impact forced the Ford pickup driver into the eastbound lane of Rt. 40, where it struck a Hyundai Tuscon, driven by a 37-year-old female of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, head on.
