Authorities have ruled as accidental a fire that caused more than $100,000 in damage to a home in Caroline County.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire broke out shortly before 8 a.m. at the one story home located at 15396 Union Road in Goldsboro. The home's occupant was alerted to the fire by the smoke alarm, and escaped without injury.
The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the structure and another $30,000 in damage to its contents.
Investigators determined the fire started in the rear bedroom due to an electrical failure. The home's occupants have been displaced because of the fire.
