A member of the Washington, D.C. Fire Department spent part of his Thursday outside of two Baltimore hospitals paying tribute to the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who are on the front line of the battle against the coronavirus. Jim Mazzara is an 18-year veteran of D.C. Fire and currently assigned as a driver for Rescue 1, which is housed in downtown Washington at 5th and "F" Streets, NW. He also plays the the bagpipes for the Emerald Society's marching band. The Emerald Society is a fraternal and charitable organization comprised of firefighters in the Nation's Capital. Based on a challenge from a firefighter friend who also plays the bagpipes, Mazzara started making the rounds of hospitals in the D.C. area two weeks ago, playing "God Bless America" to show his appreciation for the medical professionals working inside.
