An alert neighbor sounded the warning about a fire in Charles County early Sunday morning. The neighbor notified Charles County 911 of a fire in a garage on Puma Court at 1:25 am. Fifteen units and 39 first responders answered the call to the 2-story home. They spotted flames coming from the garage. Firefighters checked the home and found a man asleep on the second floor. They evacuated him from the home while RE12, E32, TW3 and T11 worked to put out the fire. One volunteer firefighter was transported to the hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
