A new report by Maryland's Opioid Operational Command Center shows the drastic increase in unintentional opioid-related fatal overdoses. From 2011 to 2020, deaths increased by 372 percent. A map in the 47-page report breaks Maryland into five regions and explains how fatal opioid overdoses spikes from 2019 to 2020. ... Less than two hours after this story aired Thursday evening on 7News, Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service responded to an apartment building on Browning Avenue in Silver Spring where four people had overdosed on opioids. Three of those people were found unconscious. An initial emergency unit did not have enough Narcan on hand for everyone. Ambulances transported the four individuals to Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center and Holy Cross Hospital, both located in Silver Spring.
