Fire officials say a recent Caroline County house fire has been deemed accidental. We’re told the fire was reported just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, at a home located at 162 Main Street in Preston. The two-alarm fire took 40 firefighters approximately one hour to control. State fire marshals responded to the scene to investigate the cause and origin of the blaze. It was ultimately determined that the fire began in a second floor bedroom and was the result of a portable space heater that was placed in close proximity of combustible materials.
