A fire that started in a screened in porch of an Annapolis home Thursday caused an estimated $200,000 in damage and sent one firefighter to the hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said. Firefighters were called to the home in the 200 block of Golden Gate Lane at 3 p.m. Thursday. Once on scene, 42 firefighters were able to get the fire extinguished in about 20 minutes after the homeowner detected the fire in the porch, located at the back of the residence, officials said. Firefighters from the Annapolis Fire Department, Anne Arundel County Fire Department and the U.S. Naval District Fire Department were called to the scene. The cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental, and one firefighter was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
