The Worcester County Fire Marshal is investigating an early morning house fire on Sunday. At 2:20 a.m. the Ocean Pines Fire Dept. and Berlin Fire Company were called to a house fire at 110 Branch St. The owner of the home had woken up to the smoke inside the home and was able successfully get out of the home with two small children. When crews arrived they found the old balloon style home with smoke coming from the house. The balloon style of construction can be challenging if the catch on fire because the flames can easily travel through the walls, floors, and the attic space is not found. Firefighters immediately began working to get the fire under control. Due to the balloon style of home multiple other departments in Worcester, Wicomico, and Sussex County were all requested to respond.
