A car crashed into a Middle River house Monday morning, which caused its battery to explode, erupting into a fire. Neighbors said it sounded like a bomb went off, and when they stepped out their front doors, they wouldn't believe what they saw. "I looked out and the house was already in flames," said Kenneth Adkins, who lives two doors down from the scene. Massive damage and a charred front are what remains of the home at the end of a Middle River cul-de-sac. No one was home at the time. "I was sleeping and I heard an explosion, and once I heard that explosion, I run to the window, first thing I see is the house in flames," Adkins said Baltimore County fire officials got the call around 8:45 a.m. about a car crashing into a house at the end of a cul-de-sac as well as calls from people saying they heard explosions.
