VIDEOS: Heavy smoke billowed Wednesday afternoon from a large fire at a warehouse in Baltimore. SkyTeam 11, Baltimore's only news helicopter, showed scrap metal on fire at a recycling plant at Bayard and Hamburg streets, near the stadiums. Baltimore City fire spokesman Kevin Cartwright told 11 News that firefighters were called around 1:30 p.m. and confined the fire to the area. Crews fought the fire from the exterior, after a large pile of scrap metal appeared to have penetrated a neighboring warehouse. Cartwright told 11 News that welding operations near a scrap metal pile may have ignited the fire. An investigation continues. There were no initial reports of any injuries. The Maryland Department of the Environment said its Emergency Response Division is responding to support city crews.
