VIDEOS/PHOTOS: A fire broke out in a residential building in Bowie, Md. Monday afternoon, according to the Prince George's County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the fire at a 4-story apartment building on the 15600 block of Everglade Lane and are working to extinguish the flames and get residents out of their homes.
As of 2 p.m., the roof of the condo building was fully engulfed, 7News Maryland Bureau Chief Brad Bell reported.
The fire reportedly started on a balcony before spreading to the roof, with sprinklers preventing much of the fire from spreading into other apartments, according to information obtained by 7News Brad Bell.
Three residents were removed from balconies and are being treated by EMS, according to officials.
After the fire, the American Red Cross said 14 families requested assistance from volunteers.
