Members of the Hermon Fire Department and some of their mutual aid partners took part in live fire training over the weekend. They used a building on Odlin Road in Hermon to simulate real-life scenarios. Among the things they went over on Saturday were ladder rescues and search and rescue. Assistant Fire Chief Cody Sullivan said some of the Hermon firefighters who took part in the training had only been with the department for two weeks. "By introducing guys to their first fire in a controlled training environment, it makes it much easier when they get called upon to respond to an actual fire in the community," Sullivan said. Senior members of the fire department also participated in the training.
