Members of the York Beach Fire Department will host their second annual Thanksgiving dinner for any resident who might want some company on the holiday. Dinner will be served at the fire station at 18 Railroad Ave. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. The dinner is free to any York resident but donations to help defray costs will be gratefully accepted. People planning to attend are asked to stop by the York Beach Fire Station and pick up a ticket. This is to allow members of the Fire Department to get an idea of how many meals they’ll be serving, said York Beach Fire Chief David K. Bridges. “We started the tradition last year because we wanted to give back to the citizens that have supported us for the past 129 years,” said Bridges. “There are many older folks that are alone on this day and we believe no one should be alone. This function gives older people, those still struggling, and everyday people that just want to be with others, a place to talk, laugh and just be with people.”
