Two Maine teens were rescued after falling through the ice on a pond in Standish on Monday. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said rescue crews were called to Rich Mill Pond just after 4 p.m. When they arrived, one of the teens, a 14-year-old boy, had been pulled to safety by friends. The friends could not get to a 13-year-old boy who was still in the water and clinging to the ice. A deputy and two Standish firefighters went into the water without cold water gear and pulled the boy from the water. He had been in the water for more than 35 minutes but was conscious and alert when rescued. Officials said the teen and two rescue personnel were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland as a precaution.
