An investigation is underway into a single-vehicle crash in Dixmont that injured three people Sunday. At about 2 p.m., the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a report about a single-vehicle crash on Moosehead Trail Road in Dixmont, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said in a social media post. "When deputies arrived they found the vehicle had crossed the oncoming travel lane before leaving the roadway striking several trees," the post stated. The driver, an adult female, was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated, according to the post. Deputies said once the woman was freed, she was taken by LifeFlight to a nearby hospital with "serious injuries." Two young children were also inside the vehicle when the crash happened.
