PHOTOS: A vacant section of the Senator Inn and Spa in Augusta became engulfed in flames early Friday morning.
The Augusta Fire Department told NEWS CENTER Maine the call came in just after midnight from a passerby who saw flames coming through the roof.
The section of the inn that caught fire was a vacant, independent, stand-alone building that wasn't being used, according to the fire department. It was comprised of 12 units and is considered a total loss, officials said. The rest of the hotel is operational, according to the fire department.
Nobody was injured in the fire, officials said.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation to figure out what caused the fire.
Road closures that were enacted during the fire response are no longer in place, according to the fire department.
