VIDEO: Students at North Haven Community School are learning life saving skills.
The MaineEMS Explorer Program is designed to educate young Mainers on Emergency Medical Systems and inspire more to work or volunteer in the field.
“They put us through scenarios, like if we were to work as an EMT, how to act when you’re in a situation where there is someone in danger, and in class, we all learn the skills and then we got to try them out before we test for them,” said Arlene Veras, 12th grade student and EMS Explorer.
North Haven high school students in the program have been learning about various life saving skills, such as first aid and CPR.
After mastering these skills, they help teach them to their peers.
