The April Solar Eclipse is less than two weeks away, and many are likely wondering what to expect. What safety precautions do people need to take? Is there anything they need to do to prepare for the increase in visitors? NewsSource 8's Rothery Sullivan spoke to the Aroostook EMA and has some answers.
With thousands of visitors expected to come to the county for the upcoming solar eclipse, safety is on many people’s minds. The Aroostook Emergency Management Agency has been working with local law enforcement and county municipalities to put together a safety plan.
“So the biggest things we’re watching for is the increased amount of traffic . . . we’ve been working with hospitals, EMS agencies, police and fire departments, as well as the communities themselves to just gather up their plans, figure out the logistics of where everything’s going to be, and how we can respond should something go bad.”
