Five people were displaced after a building fire in Waterville late Friday night. The Waterville Fire Department and several surrounding departments were called to the fire on Front Place. When firefighters arrived at the home just before midnight they say they found heavy fire at the rear of the building. Officials say energized power lines had fallen in an alleyway, presenting both a challenge and a safety concern for those trying to get out. Power was shut off to help secure those lines. The fire department says everyone inside made it out safely. No injuries were reported. Officials say firefighters quickly knocked the flames down. Investigators with the Fire Marshal’s office were on scene investigating Saturday morning. The Red Cross has been called in to help those displaced.
