A cooking fire Monday injured a person and caused an estimated $3,000 in damages, according to St. Cloud Fire Department. Fire units responded to a reported building fire about 5:10 p.m. Monday at 1709 University Drive, Battalion Chief Greg Newinski stated in the department's daily report of critical incidents. Firefighters found light smoke throughout the multifamily building. The source of the smoke was a fire in a pan on a stove in one of the units. The occupant of the unit went to the hospital on their own with burns prior to the fire department's arrival. The extent of the person's injuries is unknown.
