Firefighters are assessing the damage after a two-alarm fire in Shakopee Monday night. The fire occurred at TimberCreek Furniture on First Avenue at about 9 p.m. Firefighters said the fire was burning for quite a while before they arrived. "This building was built before sprinkler systems were required," Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Yttreness said. "It did not have sprinkler systems; if it did, damage would have been a lot less." Firefighters said no one was inside the building at the time of the fire. A crew will return Tuesday morning to assess the damage.
