According to the Albert Lea Fire Department, a home was significantly damaged during a kitchen fire.
Albert Lea firefighters responded to reports of a fire on the 2400 block of Ethel Ave. around 2:30 p.m. Monday.
According to a press release, first responders saw smoke and fire from multiple windows of the house. The fire was put out, and the heaviest damage was contained to the living room and kitchen area, with smoke damage trailing throughout the home, the release said.
Firefighters said a short in a stove outlet below the floor level started the fire.
The damage is estimated at $20,000. One firefighter was treated and released on scene for heat exhaustion, firefighters said.
The Albert Lea Police Department and Mayo Ambulance assisted on scene. No one was injured.
