Being a firefighter is more than just fighting fires. For the next 10 weeks, five men will learn what it means to be a member of the Rochester Fire Department as the department's newest recruits.
On Monday, the group spent time at the Rochester Fire Department's workshop with department mechanic Jeremy Leisenheimer learning about the weekly fleet check.
"When new people start, it is always an exciting time. They bring fresh energy and perspective," training Capt. John Busch said. "They are excited to be here. They definitely have great attitudes. It's fun to work around people that are absorbing all the things that you are teaching them and to see them grow as time goes on."
