Crews worked for several hours putting down a fire at a commercial building in Minneapolis Friday morning. Calls came in shortly before 5 a.m. reporting the fire on the 3700 block of Washington Avenue North in Minneapolis. Crews arrived and had to work their way through pallets and debris to get to the fire. Posts by the fire department on Twitter say once there, smokey conditions caused firefighters to exit the facility and take a defensive approach to attacking the fire. They then went back in, in an attempt to improve ventilation in the building and check on conditions. Currently firefighters are using high pressure nozzles from the entrances to the building, trying to knock the fire down. It was originally reported that the fire was at a facility used to grow mushrooms, but department tweets later revealed that it was actually next to that business.
