The State Fire Marshal is investigating following a fire that destroyed a home Monday afternoon in Dodge Center. According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the fire happened at a home on the 17000 block of 635th Street around 4:20 p.m. on January 6. The homeowner called authorities to report the fire. All occupants were able to get out of the home unharmed. When deputies arrived, the home was engulfed in flames, and people were moving vehicles away from the home. Deputies said sparks were seen coming from behind the home and there were two LP tanks in the backyard of the property. Excel Energy was called in to assist. Canadian Pacific Railroad was also contacted due to the home’s proximity to the tracks.
