Several fire departments were called to the Virginia Power Plant on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters evacuated several workers from the Virginia Power Plant after a report of a fire on Monday afternoon. The Northland FireWire reports that the fire in the lower level of the plant was reported at around 2:45 p.m. Initial reports indicated that three or four employees were unaccounted for. Virginia firefighters quickly located the employees and evacuated them from the building. No one was injured, and the small fire was immediately extinguished. The Virginia, Eveleth, Mountain Iron, Hibbing, Gilbert, and Pike-Sandy-Britt fire departments were called to the scene. The Virginia Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
