Farmington Deputy Fire Chief Matt Price was appointed interim fire chief during the March 18 City Council meeting. The appointment was approved as part of the council’s consent agenda. The appointment is effective from March 5. Fire Chief Justin Elvestad is on leave. The city said it’s unable to release any information about the leave due to human resources compliance and confidentiality. “Mr. Price brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this role, and we are confident in his ability to lead the department effectively,” said Lynn Gorski, city administrator, in an email response to the newspaper. “With his extensive background in fire service and commitment to our community, we believe that Mr. Price will continue to uphold the high standards of excellence that the Farmington Fire Department is known for. His leadership will ensure the safety and well-being of our residents, and we congratulate him on his appointment.”
