Nixa Fire District will hold 'Front Porch Fridays" every Friday night through July.
Nixa firefighters are inviting the community to sit on their front porch and visit with the firefighters on Friday evenings during the summer from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Firefighters will be sitting in front of Station 1 located at 711 N. Main, Station 5 located at 1295 W. Guin, and Station 2 at 301 S. Nicholas during that time period.
The crews will keep the garage doors open and be out front for community members to visit with firefighters, look at the engines and learn about the station. In the event that the firefighters get called away for an emergency the garage doors will be closed and the firefighters will not be out front.
"Your firefighters will be able to give you a tour of the station, answer any questions you may have about emergency services," Chief Jon Trent said. "So stop in and say hi and sit a spell on our front porch; we will save you a spot on the bench."
