Three men are now manning Carthage's newest addition to fire protection.
One of them is nine-year veteran John Browder.
"Waking up in the middle of the night trying to figure out if that's your call or the other stations call is the biggest thing," explains Browder.
The new station has been staffed 24 hours seven days a week since September 19th and covers everything from Fairview avenue south to the county line.
Browder says, so far, everything is going pretty well.
"The biggest advantage here is responding to wrecks, especially on I-44 and anything basically south where we don't have to go all the way through the middle of the town," says Browder.
Residents we talked to that live close to the new station are glad to see that it's open.
