October 12th marks four years since Kansas City, Missouri firefighters John Mesh and Larry Leggio were killed in the line of duty. A permanent memorial was installed at the site of the deadly fire, at Independence Avenue and Prospect.
Family members are still grieving their loss, and say this memorial is a touching tribute. “We're proud that, happy that people haven't forgot John and Larry,” said John’s brother Jim Mesh, “and we're honored to have this memorial in place to obviously keep their memories alive.”
“It brings everyone together, because that tragic event made our family bigger,” said Missy Leggio, Larry Leggio’s widow, “so it’s a time to reflect on their lives and share stories and keep their memory going and not forget.”
